Katie & I had been driving along PCH all day. We'd stopped at the beach & seen some dolphins, Taken a wrong turn & wound up driving up & down a mountain that had seen fire in the past few weeks. Katie had to tell me a few times to not look at the sheer drop to my right/left as I drove (I have big fear of falling). We stopped here for a break. The clientele was a happy mix of travelers, surfers, & bikers. We split an order of fried shrimp & ordered a beer apiece. No open tables so we sat with a couple who were traveling home on their 3-wheeler to Eugene, OR. The man guessed from my accent that I was from Boston, which was a first. Told him I was from NYC. "I hate the Yankees!" he said, but with a smile. His wife went to the bathroom & he told us about the time he got fined for smoking weed. My strawberry Dogfish Head beer was delicious, as were the shrimp. They hit the road; I can't remember if we got their names. We finished & ran for our lives across PCH to the beach to watch the surfers who were undeterred by the incoming clouds. I took this photo with my phone.
